Cudjoe Regional Wastewater Collection System & Treatment Plant
The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA), in conjunction with Monroe County, has awarded contracts for the Cudjoe Regional Centralized Wastewater Collection System and Treatment Plant. The project is underway and a majority of the project is scheduled to be completed by December 2015. Connection Notices will be phased with the first notices anticipated to be sent to Cudjoe Key property owners in the second quarter of 2015. Connections will then commence on Summerland and Upper Sugarloaf Key with the other areas to follow.
This wastewater collection system will be constructed in the Lower Florida Keys, from Mile Marker (MM) 17 to MM 33, and will provide service to Lower Sugarloaf Key, Upper Sugarloaf Key, Cudjoe Key, Summerland Key, Ramrod Key, Little Torch Key and Big Pine Key. The proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant will have an average daily design capacity of 0.94 Million Gallons per Day (MGD), and will use a five-stage Bardenpho system capable of meeting the rigorous Advanced Wastewater Treat (AWT) Standards, mandated by the State of Florida.
